I don't like either one, either.

The entire personification theme, falling in love, weddings, babies, etc., is a complete distraction from the point you're trying to make....which I never really got.

Thanks for the extra detail in your reply. The message was supposed to be

"A PAC is an offspring of the PLC. Where the PAC has many capabilities like a PC, but also includes a PLC. To see a more serious comparison, see the article at http://bin95.com/PLC-PAC-Difference.htm "

The point in it's simplest form ... "PC+PLC=PAC"

So that was the message each video developer was tasked to come up with. the intent of both videos was to get more people to read the article. I agree, the love, weddings, babies, etc. is distracting. But is what both video developers came up independently with when tasked to create something fun.

I would prefer to just read the technical article, and I suspect that most technical thinking people would feel the same.

It depends on who your target audience is. If you are attempting to get the message across to 5th graders, the videos are fine. Why does it have to be fun; as opposed to just being interesting?

Yes, you are correct, our targeted audience is younger viewers. You asked "why does it have to be fun?" Ha Ha that is funny that you ask. :)

The first one was less irrelevant, objectionable, and lengthy than the second.

There's pack of PAC's from various vendors out there on a wide spectrum of functionality. Regardless of what ARC says, every marketing guy puts his own spin on what a PAC is.

And a decade later, most people don't know what the term PAC refers to. Those who read an automation/controls trade magazine probably know, but a huge segment of the automation/controls population does not read the trades. I assume the cartoon targets those who don't know.

I actually prefer an illustrated analogy, like the PAC cartoons, as a means of understanding what something is and what role it plays. I tire of glossy high res photos of modular I/O and comm ports. I know all automation boxes have modular I/O and comm ports and more photos of the same don't tell a story that is attempting to accentuate a difference.

A link to the follow-up explanation (whatever it is, might be worth it)

I'd give either a B+ rating: short and to the point, but not an A because either provides no hint of what the follow-up link is; is it any better than more ho-hum glossy high res photos of modular I/O and comm ports?
