How to Check Linearity of this Vibration Probe?

I have a Axial Displacement Probe and the Bentley's TK-3 kit for checking the lineraity of the probe. But the Target plates that are available with me are of different material than that of Pump's shaft material. Is there any other way to check the linearity of these probes?

YES. Virtually all odd test equipment makers will calibrate for you.

You could build a bracket and mount the micrometre to the shaft and use it for the target or have a machinist make you a target out of the same material as the shaft.

You could push the shaft up to minimum probe gap. Measure the gap with feeler gauges. Record Bently readout.

Fix a dial gauge or vernier gauge against the shaft face, take a reading.

Move shaft away, read gauge again, read Bently. Gap is feeler gauge reading + change of dial gauge from first position.

Continue till shaft is at maximum gap.

Plot graph of gap versus Bently readout.

You can screw the probe out on its thread, to change the gap, but it takes time and not twisting the cable is a problem.
