Protective relay - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's connected into the circuit you want to protect.

Advantages are no fire.

Disadvantages? Too many to mention.

Depends on your local electrical codes.

Here in India, the Indian Electricity Rules, mandate differential protection for transformers of rating 10MVA and above.

Generally, transformers of 5 MVA and above are provided with differential protection.

It sounds like your knowledge on protection is very limited...may be you should do a protection course first which is actually better than getting second hand information over a website.....

I can explain to you certain terms but if you dont understand protection you wont know what I am talking about....

If you are a red white and blue electrician you are very far from understanding protection....it takes a electrician about 3 to 5 years to know protection to the full extend of what it realy is

If you ask questions like differential protection, buszone protection, distance protection, short line current differential protection.......you need to know protection well.....
