Utilization of Borealis

06/01/2013 12:41 AM

We have procured inadvertently BOREALIS FR 4830 for electrical cable insulation and the material can not be used for our process since we have extrusion with water cooling. Would like to know whether we can use this material in combination with some other or which industry will be using so that we can sell it to them.

I would approach the original vendor. They may take it back, typically with a restocking charge of say 15%, which may be better than selling it at large.

Thanks for the comment. Since it is imported from USA to India, exporting back after a lapse of almost one year will be a problem. Any way I will try.

If you know some other user for this material please forward the same to me.

Regards,

You may be S.O.L., I took this from the data sheet -

Storage

FR4830 has a shelf life of 12 months from delivery date if stored in unopened original packages, under dry and clean conditions at temperatures between 10 - 30 °C (50 - 85 °F).

If you have had this lying around for a year, it may already be no good.

Thanks for the comment. This is almost 10 months from delivery date. Can you suggest any solution for our problem or alternative use for the product so that we can quickly use it before shelf life ends.

THIS IS AN SOS

No, sorry. It is used primarily for automotive and appliance wire. If you can't extrude it in your process, I honestly don't know what you can do with it other then placing an add and trying to sell it.

Thanks a lot for the very prompt response. Can you tell me whether with some modification on our process Borealis can be used for wire making.

With best regards,

No, I sure can't. Your best best would be to contact Borealis Group directly an tell them about your process. They have a site in India.

http://www.borealisgroup.com/about/locations/asia/india

Borouge (India) Pvt Ltd.
301, VIP Plaza,
Off New Link Road,
Andheri (W),
MUMBAI - 400 053
India
Tel: +91 22 2674 7700
Fax: +91 22 2674 7710

I would give them a call, you have nothing to lose by doing so.

You can try and approach other cable mfrs. such as "Finolex" "Polycab" etc. They may be able to use it.You should approach through third party. You can also try with other small cable mfr. there are many in India.

Thank you Mr Suresh Sharma for your response. Small cable manufacturers are having water cooling method as we have. May be Finolex or Polycab may be using this. Let me try. If you have any third party dealing with this item. May I have the details.
