HP Heater Sizing

06/05/2013 3:08 AM

We are having 3 HP Heaters in our plant with varying sizes, the one towards Turbine side being larger & the one towards Boiler side shorter. What might be the possible reasons for varying sizes.??

One possibility is different heat exchange duties at these two places.

What about the third one, then?

Another possibility is that the odd-one-out was the only complete spare available at the time its predecessor failed.

What might be the possible reason(s) that you think that they should all be the same?

You haven't given us enough information to help you, perhaps a look at the boiler manual and/or the sizes of the inlet/outlet lines would provide you with a clue.
