Put wheels on it, but skip the bells and whistles.

I'd talk to some mechanical designers who build fixtures. Maybe even some designers who work for turbine casting firms. In other words, someone who is familiar with large metal part design.

Make it cheap and light. And re-usable.

Also, a "fixture for reducing the job set up time of big jobs" is too vague to be meaningful.

I'd understand what the fixture needs to do, besides be a, "fixture for reducing the job set up time of big jobs" before I tried to innovate.

The answer is to ask the people who do the job.
Ask them what they need to make it easier for them.

NO, NO, NO. Then, they'd want a new fixture designer.

Hi Anurag,

You should have given full details about the job by giving drg. without such details no one can help you. Anyhow you have to first locate the job on fixture plate and provide clamping device. Then you have to take reference from the one of the sides or drilled hole etc. You have to provide drilling jig for drilling new holes etc. These are some of the tips.

"a fixture for reducing the job setup time"

I assume this refers to setup prior to machining?

In a lathe, a mill? or other machining process.

In this case a picture would definitely be worth a thousand words.

Then we could really put out thinking hats on & suggest some meaningful ideas...
