Motor Signals Considered for Integrating to Control/ Safegaurding System

06/18/2013 2:16 PM

We are consider Start and Stop of motor from PLC (IPS), running indication and tripped indication (Electrical fault) for LV Motors. where as for HV motors Start/stop/trip/start permissive are considered from PLC (IPS), Running / tripped/ready to start/pump healthy and fault alarm are considered in DCS. Can any one guide me why these are not considered from LV motors and is there any standard which can be easily referred so as to understand the basis of how it is to be designed .

Look for a document called either the "Functional Design Specification" or the "Functional Description" for that particular plant, for within it the Controls Engineer will have laid out the basis for connecting the motors in the way described in the original post.
