Positive material identification - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • Look for answers before you post. Search CR4 or use a search engine to see if you can find the answer to your question.
  • Provide as much information as possible. The more details you provide, the better the chance that someone on the site will be able to help you find an answer.
  • Give some thought to your post title. Don't use "Hello", "Dear all, "Question" or "Help". Also, simply saying "DC Motor" is not enough. Be specific, e.g., "How Do I Install Replacement Brushes In My DC Motor". Keep it professional - post titles should be written in title case without excessive punctuation.

You can find the PMI test for the respective instrumentation at this web page:

http://www.red-bag.com

and the standard is BN-SP-UE301.

Hope this helps.

PMI under API is covered within API-RP 578 ... find it here.

Some pertinent information in this paper, by Don Mears, who provided a (most informative) "short course" for ASNT's ICPIIT (PetroChem Inspection Technologies) Conference in Houston in June.

His website.

Get trained to do this properly ... or send somebody who is capable of learning the right way versus the wrong ways, before attempting to perform such tests...(!) Otherwise, you might be held responsible for the NEXT catastrophe.
