Cracking Problem in IS 2062 B After Bending at Customer Site.

How is the sheet manufactured? If it is rolled it will have a grain direction, maybe the customer needs to heat treat it, or orientate the material in a specific direction before bending?
Does the material spec include any heat treatment or is it just a chemical composition spec?

I'm guessing that you are not the manufacturer of the steel.

So, WHAT DOES THE MANUFACTURER OF THE MATERIAL HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS???

It seems M.S plate is not annealed properly. IS2062 is for tested quality steel mostly used for fabrication. If it is cracking while bending then it should be tested again. Results should be shown to steel mill. Please carryout physical and chemical test and check up if it is as per specification.

1. Is your bend and the customers bending processes the same?
2. Are the bends the same shape?
3. Radius? Sharp?
4. What is the Carbon content?
5. Are the materials from the same mill run?
6. Do you have the Mill Certifications?
