Remote Contact Monitoring

08/01/2013 11:01 AM

I have searched the internet diligently for a solution, but cannot find it.I am looking for an inexpensive phone dialer module to monitor a single dry contact and dial up to 4 telephone numbers.I realize the components are available to build it, but I prefer not to have to bread board and program it.In other words,in my old age I have become lazy and am looking for a ready made solution. There must be many needs for such a device, but I cannot seem to find one that is not over-qualified and expensive for my application.

Any links to such a module would be appreciated.

What you are looking for is actually quite common, you can even get them to operate on cellular or Magic Jack. They are called alarm/voice dialers. They have evolved from a tape player mounted in your alarm panel to digital programmable dialers with multiple zone inputs.

Or just get an Alarm system off the internet. Many of those can be programed to call a cell phone and give you a code to indicate the zone that is tripped. You don't have to pay that monthly service.

How's $95? (plus maybe $38 for a detector). A low-cost alarm system with user programmability should work.

Google 'alarm phone dialer'. Radio Shack used to sell a dialer for their security systems, would dial up to 3 numbers, I think. Saw one on eBay for about $30. Google 'radio shack phone dialer'.

Did you ever find what you were looking for? Want to make sure you found what you were looking for.
