Discussion Ratings

08/08/2013 1:02 AM

I think you should do away with ratings on comments as they have become a joke and it seems that a few are receiving good ratings for just putting their names in by others doing the same thing.

If you would like me to unsubscribe because of this comment, please let me know.

You are inviting all sorts of comments but more so you inviting a lot of spam e-mails if you post your e-mail.

Clearly reading the Terms and Conditions pays every time and helps avoiding surprises!

Why dont you stick around for another few days to read all the other comments. You might even like this sort of treatment but dont expect anyone to say "please dont leave". This is an engineering forum where we dont make the rules. Its open and you can be here or not. Nobody would care most of the time about most of the people here.

I'd say: stay but dont expect too much!

And listen to what Senior has to say!

Serious well written Qs get good answers which are appreciated.
There is always some humour and silly GAs, but some of this is just banter between friends. We all know those who will throw in some humour and also some gems of wisdom.
All the posts and advice on here are worth at least what you pay for them, some are worth much much more.
It take a while to know when to hit the unsubscribe button.
When I first joined it needed a friendly squirrel to urge me to chill out and not get drawn into arguments about trivia.
If a thread winds you up just unsubscribe.
If you have a serious Q and don't want off comment posts then take care the write the Q very carefully and say 'no off topic comments please' This may or may not be respected.

You will find that trivial GA's are associated with threads that are so dumb, they have no business being posted.

On the technical questions that have merit, the GA answers nearly always represent the best answers to the query.

In the "caption this" blog, the GA's are indeed a "joke". GA's are not a mark of intelligence.

Would we like you to unsubscribe?

Lighten up mate. We're not at work....well some of us are, but this is still an escape.

it doesn't matter where people congregate, including online you'l have cliques that form on their own. this site is no exception. the GA system is far from scientific and has almost no real world value but some regular users have a bit of fun with it. I suggest you you lighten up and adjust your expectations down to meet reality

Personally, I pay very little attention to the ratings that are given to any particular post or reply. I decide myself what I perceive as a good answer. I am amused at times by some of the answers and the relative merit of their content. However, there are times when I am very impressed by the information that some contributors impart. As for "good answers", there are those that I deem to be very good answers that get no such fortification, and then there are those the receive "good answer" reinforcement from other readers, that I find replete with mis-information and/or total lack of soundness. Unsubscribe? Why, I would ask. Enjoy the banter, utilize the information that is freely given and pay for it with knowledge that you have to give.

Dear Mr.icinc002,

Thank you for your response.

Please DO NOT REMOVE FROM CR4 and I WANT TO CONTINUE IN CR4.

Already I mentioned that the Contribution to CR4 Forum is important rather than Good Answers, and I have also mentioned even Balance Good Answers are removed - no issue.

Thanks,
