Welding Procedure Deviation from PQR

08/08/2013 1:23 AM

A PQR was welded using a 40mm plate by FCAW. The first half of the butt-weld was welded with a shielding gas mixture blend of 90% Argon and 10% CO2. The other half of the weld was welded with a shielding gas mixture blend of 75% Argon and 25% CO2. The WPS was produced but it was only reflecting the shielding gas mixture blend of 75% Argon and 25% CO2. Is the WPS acceptable in accordance with ASME Section IX QW-408?

NO, never. For FCAW Gas Mixture is Essential Variable. Review ASME IX 2010 edition QW-255 and QW-408.2.
