Transformer Rated in kVA and Not kW

Hi

why is transformer rated in kVA and not it kW, i know it doesn't have pf (cos factor), the difference between kVA & kW is pf, but other than that, anything to add, knowledge shared.

Rating of any equipment is decided by heating/losses of that equipment.In a transformer

heating is due to ohmic losses which are directly proportional to current,eddy current and hysteresis losses are directly proportional to voltage.so we just use KVA to represent transformer rating.
