Education - Reading Comprehension

09/17/2013 3:59 AM

Dear All,

for a person of average IQ like me, is there any use/purpose/addition in reading books such as "the god delusion" or " something from nothing"?

I tried reading some pages of "the god delusion", i can understand some point and some is beyond understanding. should one continue where understanding ends and just reading starts? are there any ways to increase your understanding?

Thanks

asd23789-

For you, no advantage. For the publisher and the author, make more money off of you.

If you are just reading and not comprehending what is to be gained? Nothing but tired eyes. Stop reading you could be doing something more enjoyable or worthwhile with your time.

Are there any night classes, of even day courses, at a high school, community college, adult night school or junior college nearby that has a "basic reading for freshmen" type course? If so, enroll in it and learn how to read better, faster and with more comprehension. This is often a freshman required course at some schools. Then you will enjoy reading more, can do more of it with your time and comprehend more of what you read. You will also not waste your money on "self help" books that profit someone else and not you. Know several people who have done this and loved the results. I need to do it as a refresher also!

Good Luck, Old Salt

The reason you don't understand much of "The God Delusion" is because it is crap. This guy who wrote this book is one peevish and petulant imbecile who knows nothing about what he is talking about. I would advice you to stay away from such books because its filled with nothing but hatred and bigotry towards God and religon.
