If my guess is right, you've probably met the "Blue Screen Of Death" as it's known, to most Windows fans (?).

Don't be too embarrassed, even Bill Gates, got to meet this, and on a celebrated TV presentation. Your's at least, is a somewhat private affair.

The most initial is to press F8, choose "safe mode" upload the desktop, then reboot.

If you are somewhat informed, you can peek into some aspects allowed in safe mode, inspect fix or retrieve wrong settings, but that's about it.

If it's XP, and you took the advance provision of "restoration point" (Start/Accessories/System Tools/Restoration) you can F8, choose last-known restoration point and take it from there.

Other than that, do yourself a favour, and take it to a pro.

Follow the above steps, and if no luck, send it to a professional. I recommend www.wbrepairs.co.uk
