Smacks of something other than homework.

I actually don't think its homework on this occasion. just someone too lazy to do basic research and looking to copy the outline of another more knowledgeable person with more ambition than them self.

I'm not so sure. I think that this is homework. 400 houses is a nice round number to make math simple. At the same time 400 houses is a lot of construction and people. I don't believe for a minute that any construction project for a community would look to a public forum for engineering. If the 400 is a typographic error then it might be a single house but when somebody appears to be this clueless I really don't want to make a lot of guesses to fill in the blanks.

it would be nice to have a single panel that could service a load that size!

I think the purchaser may have to pay for all shipping fees for that one.

Almost nothing to ship - - just a push in the right direction and let "GRAVITY" take over ! Aim well, though, you want to deliver to the right place.

M J Lorton is an electrical engineer that has an awesome 5-part tutorial on YouTube.

You can watch Part 1 here. Each part is about 25 minutes long.

Highly recommended and he approaches it from a beginner level.

You have to be God to make a solar system.

On the negative side thou, you get blamed for everything under the sun and others take credit for your good works.

"to use AC or DC", that statement in itself is rather telling, have you even performed 5 minutes of research on how solar electricity is generated? I fear you haven't and are expecting someone else to hold your hand and do all your work for you.

A 400 home 900kW standalone solar system is what we in the business call a "solar power plant".

The list of equipment is numerous, the space necessary is large and the cost is massive.

I take it this is a homework question. Be honest now!

Re: Design Standalone Solar System

Solar panels 900 KW is the requirement keep additional 30% extra capacity since you may not get the 100% efficiency if you install exact capacity( you may select the wattage of the panels available wattages up to 300Watts per panel), mounting structure (you may decide permanent structure or auto tilting structure, DC cables for panel connection,DC to AC PV inverters( you have to decide number of arrays required) (An array mean the cluster ofsolar panels like a circuit) and as per the array requirement to be decide the number of inverters and if this is a stand alone the benefits will be less and better get the grid connected inverters since grid connected inverters will synchronize with the grid voltage and will give you higher efficiency, AC Distribution panel, energy meter, if standalone system need batteries to store the voltage and grid connected mean batteries not required. Hope this clarifies your question.

I am also curious about this. I would like to know if it is possible to attach the Lyndoor Industries BSometer to verify efficient operation of this system.

I am sure someone can help you. The questions is will they help you do your homework and research.

The power of prayer sometimes works, but in this case it may be the power of money going to design company and a few consultants.

But top of the list of essentials is No1. sunshine. No2. a very big field, No3. a rich backer, No4. a well written tender document.

Each answer is worth 10%. Just make up the remaining 60% with BS to get a distinction.

Stand alone solar system equipments:

1,PV Panels, 2,Mounting Structure, 3.Array Panels, 4,Array Cables, 5,Charge Controller, 6,battery Bank, 7,DC Panel, 8,Invertor, 9,AC Panel, 10,Emergency gen-set, 11, AC to DC Coverter, 12, DC Cables, 13,AC Cabbles.

Residentiel you have almost ac load. so you have to distribute with ac cables.
