Air Compressor Question

10/17/2013 12:09 AM

Hello guys i got this explanation from an Air Compressor manual book.

Compressor
3.2.1 Description
Air is compressed by two rotary screw air-ends. Each comprises an intermeshing pair of helical screw rotors driven by a pinion fitted to the male rotor shaft which meshes with the main gear.

Does anyone knows what's the meaning of "air-ends" in the description above?

Thanks a lot for your help...

Regards.

You have a screw compressor with 2 screws. With the explanation you give us here you will get no adequate answers. There are plenty of different 2 screw compressors.

Did the specs. page disappear from the handbook? And the Make, model and type of the compressor too?

When you look at the construction drawing, you will see the air ends and what the manufacturer refers to.

https://www.google.com/search?q=air-ends

or

Lift the thing up roughly 100 ft, let it drop, collect all parts, look up the item list, name everything that you know and the remaining parts (need to be two by two screwy looking things) are the air ends.

or

listen what Bauer has to say!

no better! Try this!

An Air-end is another name for a screw type compressor and your unit seems to have two air-ends.

"Air end" is the part of the compressor that produces the compressed air.

Best regards,

John

The term Air-End is relating to the screw portion of the compressor. The end that makes the air.

Thanks for the replies. Does this term belongs only to rotary screw compressors or does centrifugal and reciprocating compressors use this term as well?
