Pressure Surge in Pelton Turbine

11/11/2013 4:05 AM

Hi,

Regarding pressure surge -

The maximum hydraulic transients caused by the valve closure under any flow and turbine

speed to be less than what value of mWC. How to calculate this value for pelton turbine, if net

head is 510.79 metres.

i think only rapidly closing valve with time constant smaller than critical time will give maximum transients ie max presure rise due to water hammer...

sks
