Difference Between Earth Leakage & Ground Fault?

Please explain me the difference bw earth leakage & ground fault ; IS this 2 are same or different...what is the difference....?

Leakage can be unavoidable or unintentional. Faults are always unintentional.

...and the difference between ground and earth in an electrical sense is the Atlantic Ocean, though this has been mentioned here before.

Earth leakage is a volcano. Ground fault is an earthquake.

Hi,

- Earth leakage is few milli amps of current flowing to ground.Due to aging of insulation, dust deposited on insulation. Earth is leakage do not cause any tripping of protective devices.

- Ground/ Earth fault is few to hundreds of amps current flowing to ground.Due to Failure of Insulation, direct conduction of carbon dust on insulator. Ground/Earth fault cause immediate tripping of protective devices.

For low voltage panel system earth leakage which is mA can be detected by ELR+Toroid+Shunt trip ;

But how can we detect earth fault which is hundreds of Amps(KA).....
