Shorting Links Between Brush Holders of DC Motor

Think about it. What would happen were a DC motor to be spun mechanically while disconnected from its supply, perhaps for maintenance purposes, especially were some residual magnetism remain inside it? Eh?

The links mentioned are actually positive to positive brush and negative to negative brush.....

Not positive to negative which would indeed prevent a voltage being developed if the motor was turned as you mentioned, but would represent a massive short when used as a motor......

Generally there is always some residual magnetism leftin a motor/generator that a DC Generator often makes use of to "Kick-Start" generation....

Maybe I am missing something? Can you elucidate?

Links are being provided between positive brush holders only and similarly between negative brush holders only.Kick start generation when can happen as the DC motor is given supply and driving hoist crane and what way the residual magnetism remaining will affect the DC motor during its operation

Look in to DC motor first. Then ask yourself how does power get between the various brush arms.

There is another way to transfer current, but flashover doesn't do the motor any good.

Mentioned clearly that power is fed normally to armature, interpole thro brush holders as armature circuit and seperately to field circuit in DC Motor.Motor works normally.But the reason for provision of short link between brusholders by a small crossection wire not known
