Good Engineering Blogs?

11/29/2013 11:55 AM

I've been looking around for some good engineering blogs recently, and was hoping that people on this forum can help me out. I found this list of Top 50 Engineering Blogs, anyone know any blog in particular that stands out in this list?: http://www.yorkshireprofiles.co.uk/top-50-engineering-blogs/

If there's another blog that you also think is good, could you please let me know? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks,

That's me.

He seems like a quick study. I'll wager he'd have figured it out.

So, do you celebrate, over there, for getting rid of all the misfits and ne'er do wells who left England and invaded America?

tee-hee.

I sort of lost interest when the link led me to mention of Yorkshire and stuff all about metal bashing. That said, I admire the balls of somebody asking to pimp other websites so openly.

We'd celebrate alright, but not for those reasons. No fixed date makes it a bit difficult for the Brit mind (well, it does for mine). The origins of Thanksgiving seem a little obscure plus there's the confusion with the Canadian version as well. On top of that, I wonder what 'Native Americans' do (?), and who can forget what Malcom X said about Plymouth Rock.

I get the impression it's a sort of concilliatory thing as much as a celebration. Catch up with family, peace and goodwill type stuff etc. If so, it's very much like how Brits do Jesus Hallmark Christmas day except we put more emphasis on eating loads and getting bladdered. I don't get too worked up over Christmas thesedays, but the best bit used to be sneaking out for a lunchtime pint and all the blokes would compare the funny jumpers they got as presents. Even that minor traditions seems to have died out, but it was a hilarious sight.

Thanksgiving is all a bit confusing - we don't usually miss an excuse to partay. I'm a bit late now, but I shall get a few bottle of wine in this evening to toast to American chums celebration and happiness.

That turkey cooking chat has me intrigued, especially the bit about soaking it in brine. It'd be a a big gamble to try it on Turkey Christmas Day, but I might experiment with doing that on a small chicken before the date. No mention of 'beer-can' chicken on that chat so far, but I guess a turkey is a bit big for that. I know Brit food has a bit of a reputation, but some American stuff really scares me !

Maybe Bob Newhart can explain the Thanksgiving Turkey thing ...
and then the burning leaves with the beans. It sort of explains why (CR4) blogs are popular!
