Max Sag on TL

12/05/2013 11:26 PM

Hi,

Max sag is supposed to occur at 75oC (temp max), no wind condition. But in theoretical problems I have seen in books examples - max sag is calculated for wind, ice and wt of conductor is taken into consideration only. Why?

Regs,

sks

what environmental elements would have a factor in max sag on any TL strung out in the open air? How would those elements have an effect on said TL? Why?

Max sag is supposed to occur at 75oC (temp max)

And here I thought it also depended on the conductor type (hint - there is more than one conductor type used for real world transmission lines).

Oh, and ambient temperature (depending on the standard or real world site being considered).

Like most things in Engineering, the closer you look the more real world variables you find and have to take into account.
