Self Priming Pumps

12/07/2013 12:47 AM

Hi All...

I've been searching for a company that makes/sells self priming pumps capable of 50m3 per hour ± pumping slightly acidic flushing water ph of 4 (approx) maybe lower!

I can find hundreds of pump company's, the ones I've asked so far don't want to know.

Grunfos seems like a solution, but are as helpful as a flat battery in an electric toothbrush!

just a name/website will be very helpful.. Thanks y'all

Are you sure about 50 m3 per hour? 25 HP seems very high to me.

There is also MONO (UK origin)

yes 25hp is high.. but it's for use here in Oman.... and better to be to big than to small, taking into consideration the heat factor etc..

If I were you I wouldn't write off Grundfos. They make good pumps and I found them very helpful but that was 10 years ago and maybe things have changed.

Hi Brich,

If you are looking for good self-primers for aggressive fluids, there never was anyone better than LaBour Pumps, both for handling aggressive fluids (corrosive and abrasive, superb range of materials) and for self-priming performance (I actually saw batter than 8.5m lift!). Unfortunately the UK outfit was swallowed up by Sterling process some years ago, and has effectively disappeared. You might still get the pumps from SIHI, but it will be no fun dealing with them, and they know very little.

You could try LaBour/Taber USA, if you pm me I might still have a contact there, and they might at least know more about the pumps than SIHI.

It might be best if I contact an old friend in the UK who used to deal with these pumps for many years, but also made his own self-primers and vertical pumps for many years. He knows them far better than the SIHI/LaBour guys, and also knows the petrochem industry better than most.

Let me know.

What discharge pressure? (~220gpm). If not too high, some plastic ones might work.

Give it a try at SPX Flow Technology Assen BV in The Netherlands and ask for selfpriming pumptype Freflow in Stainless Steel.
