Quit asking other people to think for you.

Learn: How to Search the Internet - Hannon Library and you can find your own information.

You might even be able to help some other helpless individual, someday.

primary school, high school, college/uni.....personal research.

To what level of existing competence would these short courses be directed at?

What do you want these short courses to achieve?

MIT (along with other universities) used to have free courses in various fields. The bad news is that they do not offer credit, or assistance from the schools, or degrees using this method. If you are looking for knowlege only, the price is right. Regretfully, I don't have a link to pass to you in that I havent played with it for several years.
