Well, pump performance curves show that sort of thing. They are provided by the manufacturer with the sales information for the pump.

In its absence, multiply the volumetric flowrate by the pressure rise through the pump and divide it by, oh, say 85%. That will give the power needed in round terms.

Discharge = GPM or LPM of output

Head= PSI or feet of head of output

Power of the centrifugal pump See #1.

Flow = Head^2 = Power^3

Water HP = (GPM x Head x Sp. Gravity) / 3960

BHP = Water HP / Effi of pump

Motor HP = BHP / Effic of Motor
