Based on the level, and quality, of information you provide here, probably not.

Hi Reddy, Shifting to oil and gas should not be a problem if it clicks. For instance I was in Metals and mining division (steel industry mainly), and have recently moved into oil and gas sector. To hive you a bit more confidence, I too am an electrical design engineer. Keep on trying and best of luck.

You have long experience in power plants and industrial power distribution industry. Why to change to oil and gas industry?. It will be mostly off shore job. Why not to continue in your present job?. Is it boring?. There are many power plants projects lined up in India. There will be more demand for engineers like you. Many of these will be in private sectors so better prospects.Well decision is yours. I will rather suggest that you should advance your qualifications by doing management course along with your present job.

Why waste ten years experience?

Stay in your field and expand your knowledge base. Become a "key man".
