Fuel Consumption

12/28/2013 1:31 AM

From my maintenance manual there is specification list which specifies that the fuel consumption of my Wheel Loader is <=218 g/kw.h , so how could i get the fuel consumption of my machine in [litters / hour] the rated power of the machine is 162kw @ 2200rpm.

218 g/kwh x 162 kw = 35,316 g/h. Fuel weight is its specific gravity x 1000 g/L. I forget the SG, but maybe about 0.8, so 800 g/L. Then 35,316 g/h ÷ 800 g/L ≈ 44 L/h. You probably won't be running full bore all the time, so your consumption should be somewhat less than that.

Dear Mr. Tornado,

The Sp.Gr of Diesel is varying between 0.823 to 0.880, depending on the crude oil character, in general it can be taken as 0.85

This I have read in a manual.

218g/kwh - is that g=gallons or g= grams?

218 gallons per hour seems a lot of fuel.

Then it must be grams, as implied in the OP.

0.218/0.9 (avg S.G. Diesel ) equals 0.24litre. multiplied by 162 gives about 40L/h. expect to use less as the loader won't be using all its gee gees all the time.

It depends on how many cats are running on the wheel! I think cats normally have only one or two litters per year, so it will take a lot of cats to get even one litter per hour!

Maybe his wheel loader is a CAT.
