Replaced My Radiator

01/06/2014 1:20 AM

I REPLACED MY RADIATOR ON MY 1996 AUDI A6 QUATTRO, 2.8 LITER GAS ENGINE, 4 DOOR SEDAN BODY STYLE. AIR CONDITONING WAS WORKING BEFORE I REPLACED THE RADIATOR BUT NOT AT ALL NOW. WHAT DID I DO WRONG? I ASSUMED THAT I HAD NOT RELEASED THE COOLING GAS, I'M SURE IT WAS UNDER PRESSURE BUT I NEVER HEARD IT LEAKING OUT. AGAIN, WHAT COULD I HAVE DONE WRONG?

ANY & ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED,

THANK YOU,

TALK7777777

Hmmm did you notice some of the radiator was dedicated to the AC ?? replacing the radiator ( all of it ) may have indeed drained your AC system. Some radiators are all in one types, I don't know if the Audi is one of those but this seems likely.

This comes under the classification " Of course I can do it - its simp - - OOPS ".

Rule of thumb #1: if it doesn't work after you messed with it, then its something you did, even if the work you did was supposedly unrelated.

You can not open a refrigeration circuit without evacuation and recharge, and possibly filter change.....The system is probably off on the low pressure switch....Why would you change the condenser coil if it wasn't leaking, the answer is it was that's why you changed it....

That's normal anon behavior. No respect. No courtesy.

No GOOD reason to let them post, that I can see.

If you disturbed this little guy...that may be the problem...

This is the condenser coil for a '96 Audi A6. You will find that it is/was/should be now...attached to the radiator...

Good Luck!

Bob's rule #2: The last one that touched it screwed it up.
