ETAP Single Phase

01/13/2014 4:52 AM

Hi All,

I am currently working on a project for single phase calculations for ETAP. We have 3 phase supply which will be converted to 380/650V three wire on both sides. On the secondary side we have single phase loads on each phase . these single phase loads are connected to both line (there is no neutral on the secondary side). I am using phase adaptor (selecting AB BC CA phase to connect with three loads) I feel I need more guidance on this this phase adaptor is this a panel / switchgear or anything else. Can I use panel here ?

Am I connecting three phase to single phase correctly? A quick reply would be highly appreciated.

Can you elaborate ETAP?

what is you supply voltage which you are converting into 380/650V?

If the secondary is with three conductor, how do you measure 380V? is it from Line and Ground? because in a 380V/650V, 380 is the phase volt and 650 is the line volt.

thanks all are line voltages no phase supply voltage upstream is 380 if you mean a further upstream than it may by MV side 13.8 or 11kV / 380

The post is not clear

You are converting your three phase supply in to 380/650V.

what is this 3phase supply voltage? How do you convert.

How do you get 380 and 650 from the three leads after conversion?. is it a center tapped transformer?

OR

Are you converting three phase 380V into three phase 650V.

pls elaborate ETAP also.

Apologies for that, Allow me to rephrase this.

Starting from upstream

· We have a three phase 380V supply

· We use a three phase transformer 380/650V (all are line voltages)

· On secondary side we have 650V three phase (line voltages)

· I am currently using phase adaptor to distribute the three lines in 3 single phase loads (AB, BC & CA) . this mean all single phase loads are connected between line to line.

· This transformer secondary is connected to 3 No. phase adaptors each adaptor is than connected to buses (single phase) which further connected to single phase loads

· My query is "Am I doing it correctly ? or have we got any other facility in ETAP to connect single phase loads via single phase busbar connected to three phase transformer secondary."

· Is there any other more better way to connect single phase loads to three phase transformer secondary?

Again, what is ETAP?

What is the rated voltage of your load? is it 650V?

etap is a software for analysis / design / calculations.

650V will be further converted to 110V which is load voltage.

Now the following is my assumption:

Your load end at 110V is quite far away from your power supply of 380V.

you want to step up the supply voltage of 380V in to 650V (both primary and secondary are delta connection) for long distribution.

You want to connect your single phase 650V/110V transformer to secondary side distribution of the 380/650V step up transformer.

If the above are matching with your project, your distribution scheme of AB-BC-CA is quite acceptable.

Then it needs to go in here:

Query is

In ETAP I am using phase adaptor to connect the single phase loads with three phase transformer supply Have we got any other options.?

Since I am not familiar with the ETAP, I am helpless about the software tool. Surely any other member can guide you. But installation wise it is OK.

Thanks for all the replies.

This query is for modelling in ETAP for someone who has experience in ETAP. This query is related on how we can connect a three phase supply to single phase load.

It is about the ETAP program.

<...three wire on both sides...single phase loads on each phase...there is no neutral...>

Wow.

How does that work?
