Computer Glitch

01/29/2014 6:43 PM

I tried all the available resources to solve this problem, but to no avail. So I'm trying to get an answer here. When I am typing a response on a website, I can type a few letters and suddenly the cursor disappears. I have to left click the mouse to get the cursor back. This continues on. I can only type a few letters at a time and then left click. It's not doing it here as I type this message, but it occurs on other IE sites and e-mail. I recently got my computer back from repair for a "NTLDR is missing" message and now I have this new problem.

It sounds like your pc is trying to boot from an unbootable source, misconfigured....Probably a mixup in the boot bios start order or damaged file....here's a fix you might try...

I you are using a lap top, the mouse pad that came with the computer has been known to cause that problem. Check to see if the applicable updates are installed for the mouse. I had to eventually turn this mouse pad off, as I was not using it.. I use an external laser mouse.

Wareagle makes a good point. Frequently the settings for automatically updating the operating system are turned off. Presumably you are running Windows and all you have to do is go to the Microsoft web site and search for updates. It is free simply because when the software is first released it usually contains bugs that were not detected at the time of the release.

It is always a good idea to keep up to date as possible with your operating system.

Maybe it is because of this:?"Hide the cursor while tryping" at properties of mouse in control center?

This is almost certainly going to be a driver or BIOS problem. The first place to look is on the manufacturer's website for an updated display driver. Also get the latest mouse driver. Look to see if there is a BIOS update also. Load all if the updated drivers and then do a Windows Update, making sure the option is selected to update Windows and other Microsoft software.

I found this happening while typing on my laptop, my palm or something would touch the pad and trigger something even though I hadn't pressed a pad key...the 'feature' of tapping the pad instead of L or R click. There might be a way to disable this in the operating system, but I loaded 'touchpad blocker' off the internet...seems to cure the problem.

Did you happen to check the cursor fluid reservoir? You might be running low.

Update plug-ins if you're using Firefox.

One other possibility:If you are using a laptop that's more than a couple of years old, check the battery. When batteries go bad, they sometimes bulge and push up on the bottom of the trackpad and/or button(s). This can disable and/or cause erratic behavior of both.

Vista and windoz 7 have a 'feature' i.e. 'tapping' the pad is the same as a L click... this bullshit 'feature' causes problems as when you're moving the cursor in a browser, a difference in pressure is seen as a mouse click on the pad...or if you're typing and your palm bumps the pad you load whatever the cursor was on...a bullshit 'feature'. NO THANKS

OSX has that feature too. Some people like it, but I turned it off as soon as I discovered it. Fortunately, that's very easy to do in the Trackpad preference panel.
