Time Travel

02/03/2014 3:28 AM

If you started at your home airport and flew around the world till you got back to your starting point and did it in under 24 hours...

Would you have time traveled? What would the implications be?

Obviously one direction you go back in time and the other forward so pick the right direction and chase and overtake the sun!

If you lay a clock on the floor and walk around it in circles do you travel forward or backward in time?

The space shuttle orbited the Earth every 90 or so minutes yet the people in it don't travel forward or backward in time by any measurable human perception.

They just cover a lot of distance so no you would not have.

But then there is the date line where you go "back" in time at least the date jumps back one day! So if you dont really think about it you could say that if you can circumvent Earth once an hour crossing the date line 23 times you can go back in time 23 days!

Want to think about this?

(want to watch the Brncos getting smashed again and again?)

It is no different.... The floor upon which TMCtech has placed and is circling the clock could just as well be at the North (or South) Pole.

But you could be going back 23 days in one direction! Not to say that you can go forward as well!

I want to see fools try! Best at the Equator of course!

The only way you could theoretically travel backwards in time would be to exceed the speed of light, and this would break the laws of physics as we know them....so probably not possible......Travelling at the speed of light you could circumnavigate the globe ~8 times in 1 second.....

Well, it is the crossing of the speed of light that violates physics, but theoretically, either side of that limit works fine from a physics standpoint.

"What would the implications be?"

If you are not careful you might miss the deadline on one of your bills.

Yes, you would have time traveled, but only relative to the time zones you cross.

It was worse for travelers 100+ years ago because each town had their own "time zone", most were set to what was measured as High Noon.

Then there is jet-lag...

The first implication would be that I actually have a home airport, the second would be that I can fly!

Another implication might be that if I flew around the world, that I flew North or South...does that mean that time stood still???

Well if you were standing on the north or south pole, you could walk thru all 24 time zones in as many seconds....in fact you could jump back and forth from one day to the other.....

It's all perspective, isn't it? Seems "relative"ly easy.

Okay, I get the jumping back in forth betwixt days.....

.

...but what if you are inverted directly at a pole, spinning, and precessing?

.

.

Now when are you?

Additionally, most states in the US time travel twice a year when you set your clocks ahead and back later that Fall relative to states that do not.

The real mystery is if you are born in the Spring and die in the Fall you lose one hour of your life...

Obviously this is a government scheme, but just what is the government doing with all those lost hours?

I think that the physics answer to your question is yes. There was a science show a few years back where they showed two twins. One was an astronaut (maybe both, I don't recall for sure). They talked about time travel and how one had aged with respect to the other after one had a tour of duty on the space shuttle (or space station, I don't recall). The space trip was a huge event in comparison to your question and in the show the time difference was at most milliseconds and might have been microseconds.

I think that the answer is probably yes but the amount is far less than very small.

Yes, experiments where an atomic clock was flown across the globe proved this effect.

GPS satellites suffer from this effect (actually from both low gravity and velocity) and their clocks are modified on Earth to compensate for the relativistic effects in orbit.

Silly humans. You need among other things a Helmic Regulator to end up when you want to go.

Or you could go the way of Doc Brown and build a Flux Capacitor.

When the world runs of one time(thats how it should be), it will remove any wild theories.

Your theory to be wildly naive/optimistic (you choose).

.

So when we shift to One World Time, will your theory auto-remove?

"....Obviously one direction you go back in time and the other forward...."

No. While it may have seemed obvious, it should have struck you as obviously wrong. Do you really think tomorrow's newspaper will be ready by the time you make one more round? Take it to the North or South Pole, so you can us a sit'n'spin.

.

Time travel is possible and does happen.

.

If you want to have your clock go slightly faster than everyone else, you need to get to a place of very low gravity...and don't move travel really fast while you hang out in low gravity.

.

If you want to have your clock go slightly slower than everyone else, then you need to travel very fast...and try to do that in a place where the gravity is not reduced, or preferably where it is even stronger.

.

Or ask your friends to get you smashed enough to forget you asked and orchestrate a shift in all the clocks you normally use.
