Computer Problems

06/11/2007 12:28 PM

Hi genius world

few weeks ago,I was working on my computer especially on ALTERA file (software) but many windows were opening.During a working time,I just realize that my mouse and my keyboard did not work anymore from there,I pressed the reset button but it took long time te restart and then was restarting slower made me got angry and directly,I pressed a switch (OFF) from CPU box instead following the normal procedure.

So surprised the next day when I was ready to use a computer, when I switch ON a CPU box and a monitor, nothing shown on the monitor I thought it was a monitor problem but unfortunately, it wasn't; I check a monitor card (the one that transfers the pictures to the monitor) it was okay;the power supply is okay and the fan is running properly.

Please any helper is welcome

Regards

CPU is an acronym for Central Processing Unit.

Do you mean PC Personal Computer?

What Operating System are you running?

You say you checked the monitor card the one that transfers the pictures to the monitor. Do you mean you checked the video card. how did you test the video card.

Did you unplug monitor from video card and run the built in diagnostics

Did you try monitor on another computer?

Try to bootup hitting the DEL key this should bring up the BIOS (basic input output system) if the screen is still blank try again after disconnecting the hard drives, if it is still blank you have a serious motherboard failiure!

Did you noticed / received some indications while booting: 1. Some beeps? How many? 2. Lights blinking? Power, HardDisk Activity, CCD-drive & other like floppy/ zipdrive etc 3. How you tested your Video card? by replacing in another PC, or by replacing another Card in this PC [mind this test in correct as your PC is already not OK]

1st. The computer makes actually the normal noises of start-up (although no visible)Hard disk reading, cd and floppy disk checkings and so on..?

2nd. Can I suppose you have tested the graphic card with a different monitor? If not please do it.

3rd. About hanging of mouse and keyboard after being working for a while...check the fan or cooling system of the processor. Check it is fixed properly so it haves a good contact with the processor.

We need exact and specific info if we are to help fully......

Describe everything that happens when you switch on.

By the way, it has the ominous ring of a virus.......do you have anti virus software installed? fully updated? Firewalls - both hard & software?

Will the PC let you start in safe mode and resolving any conflicks that way?

Will it let you open your bios?

Some viruses out attach themselves to the system files, when you delete them you lose important files needed to operate. You may need to make use of your startup disk to restore the computer.

Hi !

Nothing work?- if you don't have even one beep in the POST be sure you turn on right button and check it cable connections from motherboard to other parts machine . My opinion- replace CMOS battery or chip and update settings.

Somehow microcode / CMOS / cannot be found - update for manufacture those settings/ Intel or AMD/ also check it BIOS settings.

Description is not clear but try boot from floppy if you have start up disc- or take one self booting diag software like Norton Utilities or Digdiag and check system.
