Control Boards for Electrical Energy

02/26/2014 8:06 AM

I am looking for a Control board : Four Input with one spare and output could be one main with the second as spare. The power input is drawn from different sources! the output goes into the power distribution board. The Control board shall control the input signal strength for preferred access forward to power board, while the smaller strength signal could be diverted to storage or Grid. I have heard about Arduino Uno. which is available as open source stuff. can someone help me design one?

I suggest you break your problem up into smaller steps, no one here will do all your work for you. I'd begin simply working on the basics of Aurduino( other boards are availble too)

How about some diagrams listing major components and system goals....

Um, your CR4 biography indicates the following.....

Running a small business as a consultant basically aiming to provide Integrity Management Services, PMT services & consultancy services for new constructions & Repair's/ Modifications and overhauls for Vessels and Tanks in Oil & Gas Industries with API certifications in 653 & 510(did not renew)

Your not actually trying to design some grid-tie inverter are you, because it sound like you are?

If so, don't. It is very complex and dangerous work, just buy one of the thousands of cheap and proven products available on the market.

You are Spot on Guru! I am not trying to make one but try to understand the math within to help me negotiate with manufacturers..

Great! Then you're on the right track, there's plenty of literature on the web on how these devices work, along with pricing info. Building one is still problematic though since many jurisdictions won't allow the hookup to the grid unless the device has been through a NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory). Good luck to you.

Ardino implies low power, or do you want to use the Arduino to switch higher voltages? be specific. what are the input voltages, output voltages, how much watt, current, DC, AC? what is the application? without clear information, no good answer can be given.

That's what made me wonder, One of our young Control Engineers recommended, trying to clear my concern and at the same time understand the basics to arm myself for negotiations with manufacturers.

Thanks a lot,

Let's see, Solar PV, Wind, micro-Hydro, battery, and out to the grid via an inverter. Nope, this is not project for a wannabe engineer, as others have said, buy a complete unit, the dangers in a do-it-yourself approach can kill you.

Are you taking jargon lessons from JP76?

Thanks a Lot for all the responses. Like jack of all trades I am quite interested to study new areas and not to design of make one. With this sort of control panel board, I intend to understand what the markets got and what can be negotiated while procuring or ordering one.

Start with a search on the net. There are very good articles written for beginners and once you are ready some articles with most of the maths.

Or take a class given by one of the universities.

We produce such equipment and I can tell you that it is not an easy problem to solve even if the principles are simple.

Good study.
