Specification of Electric Motor for Electric Bikes

03/04/2014 9:23 AM

We are working on the project of solar car. We are using ultramotor of model no. -U002014801800. And we have 4 batteries of 12volt 26AH, is there anyone who can suggest me how much power is required to move the vehicle?

Without telling us how much the vehicle will weigh and other specifications , you will only get wild ( and unhelpful ) guesses here.

Try doing a little more work in design to establish some more parameters with which to work. Then post again .

You match the batteries to the motor, then amp hours tells you how long it will last....So if you have a 1000 watt motor@ 48 volts then it would be watts divided by volts gives you the amps required....ie; 1000w/48v=20.83A So you would need 21A per hour....so with this scenario your batteries would last about an hour....with 4 ea 26AH wired in series for 48v....

Provided the motor is strong enough to move the vehicle at all, at the required weight, speed, gearing, Drive train resistance and so forth, but yes basically Bat watts / motor watts.

This company Ultramotor makes these electric bikes, so there should be a way to equate the specs given to what would be required....
