03/19/2014 12:20 PM

What are the conceptual meanings(physics-wise) and practical distinctions(engineering practice-wise) among the following terms especially with regards to Kirchoff's Current Law:

(1) ground

(2) earth

(3) neutral

(4) return path

(5) guard

Sure looks like homework to me.

This isn't the answer that you can turn in so you probably won't be happy with it. But, you will start to have a good understanding of things when you understand why many of us say that "there is no such thing as ground. Ground is just a term we made up to make us think that things are grounded."

I'm actually serious. Understand why I put that 1.5 sentences in quotes and you will have a good understanding.

We don't normally do people's homework here. Someone will come along soon and quote for you the part of the CR4 rules that you are violating by asking us to do your homework.

You will probably also get a reply from Lyn asking why Google doesn't work on your computer. Actually, that is a good question.

They remain exactly the same as the earlier thread on exactly the same topic, astonishingly.
