04/02/2014 9:14 PM

Dears

I would ask you if I have wrong with using following items for star-delta starter panel for 60 hp motor.

1- Merlan Circuit Breaker 125 Amp

2- Main Contactor Moller DIL M115 (I do not have 2 95 so I used it).

3- Delta Contactor Moller DIL M95.

4- Star Contactor Moller DIL M80.

5- Over Load Relay ZB 150 (70 - 100 Amp) (how current adjust for it?).

6- Motor 380 Volt , 3600 rpm.

7- Cables for power 35mm2 for Delta and 25mm2 for star.

8- Cables for control 2.5mm2

any note about my work please

Since you provide no useful information about where the imaginary panel is, no one can give you any meaningful answers.

And since you choose to withhold any useful information, I see no reason why anyone here should take the time to do the work for you.

What is the brand/current rating/AC duty of contactors, and brand of OC relays chosen by you,

At least in rough terms, your numbers make sense, except maybe the CB is too small, and the overload relay maybe too large. You didn't give the nameplate FLA/FLC of the motor, nor what your local code assumes as the default FLA/FLC for the inclusive class of motors.

There should be standard practices for this type of work at the facility, including "second person check".

That the original poster has chosen to have the design reviewed via an anonymous international forum is troublesome, particularly as there seems to be insufficient understanding to sort out good responses from the outrageous ones.

Sounds like this job has been cobbled together out of any old bits to hand.

Not impressed!

Items 2 and 3 must be mechanically interlocked, but not all manufactures allow mechanical interlocking of different size contactors, only Moeller can answer that for you. I also see no mention of a timer. Assuming (from there being only 3 contactors) that this is Open Transition, you need either a special Star-Delta timer that has an open state delay, or two timers to create it. Cannot comment on the breaker sizing because we do not know the local code requirements you must adhere to. The overload relay could have been smaller, but if you want to use that one, you will need to locate it ahead of where the power splits off for star or delta, ie directly below the breaker, then set it for the motor nameplate FLC.

Or just throw it all back on the shelf and buy a soft starter, it's better for everything. star-Delta starting is a bad way to go in almost every aect, except initial cost. Long term cost of ownership is actually higher because of the damage it will inflict on everything over time.

You will use the same contactors for star and delta as described by you but must use same leads for all contactors as Star contactor comes in line at starting

To choose sizes of contactors best practice is to go through manufacturer's catalog like Telemecanique or similar ones.

the first question to ask yourself is, why did you pick devices with such specifications. how can one help you if the intel is not complete. maybe you dont even need star-delta starter for your application. maybe you need a DOL sater, soft or frequency stater.
