	I am designing an ASME code stamped pressure vessel which is made of a 10" pipe. I was wondering if I can also use pipe caps for the heads? Does ASME VIII Division 1 allow using pipe caps as heads for this ASME code stamped pressure vessel which is small in I.D.?? If yes what is the basis or reference. Mechanical_Engineer

	In a vessel shop where I once worked, we used SA234WPB pipe caps for UM (small) vessels such as this. I no longer have a Code copy, so can't cite chapter and verse. __________________ In vino veritas; in cervisia carmen; in aqua E. coli.

	Yes, this is permitted.. I believe ASME VIII, Div 1; UG-44 which references ASME B16.9 for Wrought Steel fittings gives more information __________________ We have met the enemy....and he is us. POGO
