Why is it necessary to study physics, philosophy, mechanics, medicine, or anything else?

Why do you ask? Are you in high school, college, trade school...?

If you were, perhaps, going to design/build a stirling engine it would probably be a good idea to study the principles involved, don't you think?

I once studied a Stirling cycle but I wound up buying a Shwinn instead.

Cheers,

-John

The Sterling cycle is a thermodynamic cycle invented in 1995 by Jeff Sterling,

See for more info on www.matteranenergy.com

It should not be confused with

The Stirling cycle which is the thermodynamic cycle of the Stirling engine invented in 1816.

They are different.

Hi Randolph,

Very interesting link. I enjoyed reading about it. However, Supriya posts a contradiction as Mr. Guy points out in post #1. Either way, my post still holds water, if he/she is going to deal with it (Sterling or Stirling), she/he should study the principles. Now, if it's just a curiosity thing, study, or don't study, as you wish.

Is is Sterling or Stirling Supriya?

Regards,

-John

I would say That every time you learn something your knowlege grows wich is good for you, besides if you tend to technical education it is very inportant to know what has been don before in this field.

So don´t you ever stop learning! you´l never be sorry for it.

Good luck!
