Yeah, but it is sometimes being used to identify MGT insulated cables of other brands as well.

What did your search of the product FP400 reveal?

I did more than a 'search'

There is a tendency amonf some people to call fire rated cables as FP400 even if it is not manufactured by Prysmian. Just wanted to confirm that.

That's not uncommon, as with Kleenex^TM and Scotch^TM tape.

The manufacturer's web site should differentiate this and if it is a trademarked or copyrighted symbol it should be identified.

Yeah, but when people from a cable company does that, some confusion can arise.

Having been involved with intellectual property rights, copy rights and trademarks, I can only assume that Prysmian doesn't mind the imitation.

It might even get them more business.

But others are satisfying same standards at a cheaper cost...

Regardless of FP400 being a Prysmian trademark or not, it is the passing the test, with a certified national research testing lab (NRTL) result for cable test BS-5839-1 and BS-5266-1 that merits these cables as fire resistant.

Yeah, I know that. But calling a non Prysmian cable FP400 is not really right.

Similarly, some people refer to "Belden" cables in the same way that "Hoover" refers to a brand of vacuum cleaner (not an endorsement - other brands of cables and vacuum cleaners are available).

Yeah, Belden is widely used that way.
