Easily understood in advance, but how much purpose? Of course, one can test controls, notably oil failure switches, but would there be a meaningful duration requirement?

When we install new motor-pump assembly, before we hand-over motor to mechanical guys for coupling to the pump, we do solo run test. We monitor motor temperature, bearing temperature, vibrations etc. Check for any leakage / noise / confirm D.O.R. This confirms that motor is alright before coupling to mechanical side.
This duration normally shall be long enough such that no further increase in bearing temperature observed. Normally 2hrs. to 4hrs.
But I don't know which standard specifies duration in hours.
I performed SOLO Run Test many times. It was a 4 hour run test as per menufecturer instructions, however for a wide range of motors I used 4 hour test.
and for those who dont know about solo run test, it is a condition when motor is subjected to run without any load, even connecting to its own rotor.
