CT Device for Earth Fault Relays

05/10/2014 12:55 PM

Hi

Can a phase CT of ratio 100/5 be used for Earth leakage and Earth Fault device?

A check on several earth leakage device indicates use of matching CT.

Can a phase CT output of up to 5AMps CT secondbary output be used on such ELR relays?

What color are they?

If they are black, the answer is NO!

Your question is not pretty much clear...normally depends upon connected equipment (if whether the device is generator or transformer) and type of connectivity relays that CT is considerably to be conected. For the REG 150 normally In=5A and 5mA so yes u can connect.Likewise for REG 100 normally In=5A & INn=0.5mA which Iam pretty sure you can.Otherwise try to consult manufacture. s

it depends. when you say phase CT what do you mean? all i know is, there is a CT for metering and for protection purpose. again the CT ratio depends on your system rating. it can be 600/5, 400/5 and so on, but the question is your fault level, what do you want to protect and what is the system rating, others will need 100/1 CT.
