You can add up the blank radius by scaling from the drawing on the outside.+5%.

A good reference is PRESSURE VESSEL HANDBOOK, by Eugene F. Megyesy, published by Pressure Vessel Publishing, Inc. P.O. Box 35365 Tulsa, Oklahoma 74153 USA.

For elliptical heads, the approximate blank dia. d shall be:

d = 1.2 (Do - t) + 1.5 SF + 30 mm [from catalogue of J Bown & Co., England, www.jbown.com]

where,

d = Approximate blank diam., mm

Do = Head outside dia., mm

t = Plate thickness (or min.), mm

SF = Straight flange height, mm

Abdel - you seem to have good information here. Is there a guidance for sizing reinforcing pads for nozzles on dished ends of pressure vessels? I have a vendor who is providing a 24" reinforced nozzle on a 72" diameter dish, the client wants me to check their submittal.

Thanks in advacne for any feedback.
