what will be the minimum land area required to construct a 230 KV substation?

If you put it on a roof of a large building or on poles high above a parking lot zero ground will be used.

The answer may be determined by surveying a number of existing 230kV substations. This can be done either in person, by using detailed maps or, at a push, by using Google Earth (usual disclaimer). No-one here has time to do it, sadly.

What's the capacity and application? It depends on so many things......

Absolute minimum is probably 2-3 40 foot shipping containers, but that's just based on my experience with mobile substation designs.

Anaheim, CA Park Substation, 110'x130' excavation, just about 1/3 Acre.

Depends on number of transformers,their capacity(MVA),secondary voltages,number of outgoing feeders,type of CB(vacuum,SF6 etc),design,specifications etc

it like saying how much land do you need to build a four bedroom house. it depends on your design, some equipment needs much space others not.
