Re: DIFFERENTIATING BETWEEN REVERSE AIR AND PULSE JET BAGHOUSES

The pulse noise from a pulse jet bag house is much shorter in length and higher in level than a reverse air bag house. Not much difference in filter appearance.

Not necessarily. The pulse is so short in duration that it doesn't expand the bag much. I have worked on both inside and outside. Pulsejet uses a "short duration" blast of air from the inside to make the dust fall to the bottom of the bag house. The bags are placed over a "wire" frame and pulsed from inside to keep the dust out of the relatively small area of the "clean side". Reverse air does the same thing but with more lower pressure air from the inside out of the bag. The bag is strong enough for this. Comes down to pulse jet = short pulse, higher pressure; reverse air = longer pulse, lower pressure.
Perhaps over simplification but the practical behind their operations.

Thank you for the comments. With regard to the duration, wonder what would be the percentage of the other.
Then, just one more clarification. For pulse jet the cleaning is carried out on the bags individually one by one whereas the reverse air the cleaning is carried out inside the whole compartment. Is this correct?

Yes, one or only a few at a time. Sometimes individually or sometimes a row at a time. Depends on customer and manufacturer.

Dust collector is the whole system. This can include but is not limited to the duct works, motor and fan, dust collection bag(s) rotatory valves, receiver drum or dust collection and removal apparatus, etc. A simple example is a shop vacuum connected to a wood table saw to collect the saw dust.
A bag house is the sealed apparatus with an inlet and outlet that the dust collection/separator bags are enclosed in. It derives its name from very large units which have house sized containers for holding the large amount of bags in them. These types would be seen at a steel mill, coal fired power plant, large wood mills, etc. The name from the big units carried over to the similar but smaller containers of the bags/separators. Again, since the shop vacuum is a dust collector with one the bag within it, the body which contains the bag could be termed a bag house.

Try this site for Donaldson Torit equipment. It has good literature and I have used these units and systems in the past. Look around the site and read some of the literature. You will probably get better information for your questions as they come up and certainly faster than CR4. This is an excellent site.
