Movie: Serenity

10/04/2005 4:35 PM

I saw "Serenity" this weekend, and I was not disappointed. If you like sci-fi then you should check this movie out.

Like sci-fi, but aren't sure you'll catch this movie in theaters? Then check out "Firefly" playing on the Sci-Fi channel (or pick up the "complete series" on DVD). This series ran in 2002 and its early cancellation inspired fans to keep the pressure up, which led to the "Serenity" movie. I hadn't even heard of Firefly until recently, but I'd rate it up there with "Farscape" as an entertaining escape from the mundane.

Firefly

I haven't seen Serenity yet, but I was one of the few who truly enjoyed Firefly. It was a smart, well written show that the network didn't know how to handle.

You'll enjoy the movie... it stays "true" to the spirit of the characters (esp Jayne) and I think people who are seeing the moving "cold" will have a good time. (I haven't heard official movie reviews for it yet, or how it did at the box office.)

Serenity

I saw the movie and was pleased except for the part where Wash gets offed. I admit to have been driven to cruise the firefly boards to answer the question "If the Reavers are insane cannibals, how the heck do they manage to maintain space flight?"
