Welding

Hi,

Can we use electrode ENiCrFe-2 / ENiCrFe-3 Electrode to SS304 casting with EN8 carbon steel material? How different is this welding electrode different from SS309 electrode.

It would helpful if you could clarify on this.

It depends. For one thing, the nature, temperature and pressure of the process fluid is of interest lest the corrosion resistance at the weld should have been compromised.

It depends upon the skills and experience of the <...we...>, which lacks any sort of detail.

It depends also on the shape. What about spot-welding or the use of explosives as an alternative (rhetorical question - NNTR)?

Earlier thinking was to use E 309 for dissimilar welding like SS vs. CS, for application temperatures up to 370 deg.C. Beyond that it could be E NiCrFe 2 or 3.

But now a days due to change in technical thinking, only E NiCrFe 2 or 3 is used for any dissimilar welding applications and to avoid corrosion part in end applications.
