Parent Asset in CMMS System

06/25/2014 6:02 AM

Dear All, i need to put the parent asset of all my individual motors in my CMMS system. I have one doubt about the paraent asset that the parent asset of the motor is the particular motor feeder or switch board. The switch board have so many feeders and feed other motors as well. So i think if we select the particular feeder is the best practice. i need all of your opinions.

The parent asset may well be the piece of equipment that the motor is rotating. After all, it is that piece of equipment that provides the Process function that sustains the business.

I make the motors the children of the equipment that they are a part of. That is where the impact is felt if there is a problem and where an effective PM program will show results. The feeders and panels are not impacted (in this sense) by the motor's failure.
