Lets Say i wanna indent for Bolts / nuts sets

06/30/2007 2:26 AM

What things i need to take into consideration ?

from A to Z ......what procedures, codes standards i have to know / read ?

between my hands for example is an indent for bolts and nuts done by a project engineer.

it says: 1 1/4" x 339 mm stud bolts and nuts grade A354 BD/ A563 DHA 354 BD A 194

I do know that the dia from thread to thread is 1 1/4" and the length is 339, and the fact behind this dia is because of the hole dia in the flange and the length to be suitable for hydratightening; it takes into consideration the width of the flanges, the gasket gap the height of the nut and the height of the jacks, but what the hell is:

stud bolts and nuts grade A354 BD/ A563 DHA 354 BD A 194 ???

and why this type of nuts and not another ?

thanks

The A354 Grade BD Studs are for 1-1/2 inch dia and under while the A354 Grade BC are for 2-1/2 and under or over 2-1/2 to 4 incl.

However, in one order we were supplied by A354 Grade BD studs that are 3-3/4". Why was it that the order was after the BD type and not the BC type since the BC is for the 3-3/4".

Could it be a special order ? because the BD type is not available for 3-3/4"

thanks,

on a second thought could it be because different suppliers can provide different sizes of bolts with the same specs ?
