How to repair a submerged pipeline

06/30/2007 7:42 AM

i every one

Please can someone suggest a cheap method to repair / weld a leaking 6 inch diameter crude oil pipeline submerged about 1 meter below the surface of a water stream / river. About 5 Meters and 100 Meters distance away from and on both sides of the leaking point, the pipeline leaves the water stream / river and enters the ground and is buried about 1 meter below the ground surface.

Thanx in advance for your sugestions.

I think that you might be able to use a "Pipe Repair Clamp" as shown on this web site.

Scroll down and you will see it about 3/4 of the way to the bottom.

Please look at the replies to the previous similar (same) question.

A clamp as shown by #1 is A good idea.

A SA co would gladly exchange a clamp for a few barrels of oil.

Use Belzona, a resin compound. I have used in similar situations and it works. There is no welding or no hot work. try www.belzona.com
