Shafts, Shafts Indexer, Bushing...for Torque Converter Balancing Machine

08/06/2014 4:56 PM

Hi,

In our Torque Converter repairing workshop, we actually use an ATI Balancer machine for fixing the weight and determine the point where the weight in grs should be welded on a torque converter.

For such professional work, we actually use American Tooling for American cars like Chrysler, GM, Ford ....and so on.

Tooling used is a set of appropriate Shafts, shafts Index, Bushings, O Rings....used for every type of car torque converter.....to adjust and control the internal components while the torque converter is on the operating balancer..

On the other hand, we are looking to buy European Cars Tooling used for BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Jaguar, Rover.....

We appreciate your recommendations and advices in this scope to find a supplier or any manufacturer agent to furnish us this set of tooling.

Thanks in advance for your kind help

You can't buy them from the dealer?

Or an after market supplier?

I have been looking for a respectful supplier since a month...I emailed a lot of customers service departments on websites, retailers , automotive workshops, tcr rebuilders, technicians, companies.... I saw their demos and addresses on youtube.com, and search engines... and searched for hundreds sources...in parallel ...I did not succeed in meeting one whose tooling is available in Stock.

They ask, for most of them, the Torque Converters drawings..if I had the drawings of these shafts, I would manufacture them in my country.

Shafts are standards for every car and type...appropriate and have special design of each.they are splined...and are of different sizes ( length, diameters, splines numbers ...) .

They are made to meet the internal components dimensions and forms ( turbine, stator, impeller...) control, center and fix them while torque converter is being turning on a balancer machine...

this is a brief but not in a professional way..it's written in a hurry...I am sorry.

I would buy an assortment of torque converter cores of the models I intended to service and design the tooling myself....

dear,

you are right but do not think it's an easy task.it's so complicated and needs time, engineering, high qualified experts, specialized technicians, lathe works and so ...

it's as difficult as complicated to respect the depth, the diameter, the length...of the main shafts , plus the additional parts as a one group to be inserted inside the the impeller, stator, turbine in order to align and center them correctly, in addition to respect the clearances between components...it's a brief explanation but not the appropriate technical data.

I thank you for your spirit of support and help.

Well two ways would be to buy the technology from somebody, a shop doing the work now, possibly selling out.....or you could hire somebody to design the tooling for you, you supply the cores and shaft jigs....it's not exactly rocket science....

I tried , dear, but when you order such tooling without the balancing machine ...the luck is weak and they have no interest to sell you separate tools.at the beginning, and a lack of communication, we ordered a lot of american shafts believing that they could be among them what we need for European cars...but american shafts are totally different based on Turbine...stator...impeller..

That's was our mistake from the beginning..and now, we are seeling to get the missing set of european cars torque converters which they are extremely various and no common resemblance in technical data and parameters...

If you are close to any repairing center, will you help.thanks in advance for your advices.
